Second Grade Parent Newsletter

May 31-June 3, 2011

 

 

 Hello,

Only 6 days left in the school year! The year seems to have gone by quickly. I've enjoyed having your children this year and would like to wish them and you the very best as they move on to the third grade.

Dates to note:

 

June 2 @ 1:30- Awards Day

June 3- AR Trip to the Racine Pool depending on board approval. Students that did not make the trip will have a regular school day. Mrs. Harless will be sending home permission slips for those students who qualified for the trip.

June 6 @ 1:30- Field Day

June 7- Last day of school and trip to Waterways(depending on board approval). This trip is for everyone. Note that kindergarten, first, and second graders must have a parent or adult with them for this trip. Students will ride the bus to Waterways so that we can get their tickets. Note that students will not be permitted to get into the water without a chaperone. Students will be permitted to stay with their parents or ride the bus back to school. Just make sure that you let me know if your child will be leaving with you.

    We will be working on the following skills this week:

 

Math: Test: Fractions, counting money, adding and subtracting with regrouping.

Reading: We will be reading " The Jingle Dancer" this week. The test will be given on Thursday.Please read with your child each evening.

English: Paragraphs

Spelling:  Unit 6: Week 5: There will be a copy of this weeks words in your child's folder. The test will be given on Thursday.

   

     Note: I will copy this newsletter for those parents who do not have access to the Internet. If you do have Internet and can log onto the school's Website you can access this newsletter each week.
